ANCESTRY
TWELFTH GENERATION
Marie MITE8AMEG8K8E, aka MITOUAMEGOUKOUE (French spelling)(pronounced: mee-tee-wa-mee-gou-kwee), an Algonquin native, was born around 1631-1632 in the "Nations des Ouionontateronon" (Huron word for Weskarini Band of the Algonkin Tribe), in the area between the Ottawa and the St-Maurice rivers in Québec. She was baptized 6 Nov 1650 in Montréal. She died on 8 Jan 1699 and was buried in Trois-Rivières, Québec.(4) The Burial Certificate No. 89562 does not contain her name. It lists Marie as "sauvagesse" - "a native woman or person of the woods". She married Pierre COUC on 16 Apr 1657 in Trois-Rivières, Québec. According to the Census 1681, Marie and her husband Pierre COUC(1624-1690)were living in St-François-du-Lac.
ELEVENTH GENERATION
Marguerite COUC dit LAFLEUR was born 1 Jun 1664 and baptized 5 Jun 1664, Trois-Rivières, St-Maurice, Québec. On the Baptismal certificate, her father is listed as Pierre COUC and mother as Marie MITEOUMIGOU. There were three witnesses: Jean PÈRE, Jeanne CREVIER and her husband BOUCHER, Governor. The officating priest was Jesuit Father François LE MERCIER. She is listed as 16 years old in the Census 1681. She married Jean FAFARD dit Jean FAFART dit Maconce or Macons (1657-1756) in 1682 in Sault Ste-Marie, Michigan. Jean FAFARD was a famous legal voyageur and interpreter.
TENTH GENERATION
Marie-Anne FAFARD MAGONCE married Louis JAVILLON before 1723. Louis, then a soldier, was documented at Fort Pontchartrain on 9 Jul 1713, where he served as godfather for a Huron (Ste-Anne). Marie-Anne was buried at Détroit on 29 Sept 1752, at age 55. Louis died on 20 Sept 1754 in Ste-Anne-de-Détroit.
NINTH GENERATION
ANGELIQUE Lafeuillade GAVILLON, daughter of Louis GAVILLON dit LAFEUILLADE & Marie Anne FAFARD MAGONCE, married MICHEL ANTOINE QUESNEL, born 25 October 1705 in Lachine, Penetanguishene, Québec, Canada on 9 April 1736 in Ste-Anne-de-Bellvue, Québec, Angélique died June 15, 1760 in Oka, PQC. Michel Antoine was a "commercant"-perhaps a fur trader.

JEAN BAPTISTE QUESNEL was born June 05, 1770 in Oka, PQC, and died date unknown. He married GENEVIEVE dit Prete-a-boire BESNER/BEZANNAIRE on November 04, 1793 in Huntingdon, PQC (St. Anicet), daughter of Jean Bezenaire and Marie Anne Grousseline/Gruzelin.

SIXTH GENERATION
(JEAN BAPTISTE)JOHN LOUIS QUESNEL was born 1802 in St. Anicet, and died January 11, 1889 in Red Lake County, Minnesota. He married (1) Marguerite Dunn. He married (2) Josephte LeMay on 1825 in Quebec, Canada. He married (3) JULIE MARGUERITE JASMIN on January 23, 1833 in St. Anicet, daughter of Jean-Bapte Jasmin and Julie Chretian. It is believed that Jean Baptiste changed his name to John Louis when he followed his son to the USA in 1882. No records have been found that indicate that John Louis (JB) and Josephte were ever married. It is believed that the wedding on January 23, 1833 was in a protestant church in Ormston, as it was reconstructed on December 12, 1848 at St. Anicet. Many of his family are shown on p. 145 of the "History of Red Lake County", in a photo taken in 1888 with Stephen Quesnel and Elizabeth Chretian.

FIFTH GENERATION
ETIENNE (STEPHEN) QUESNEL was born May 26, 1842 in St. Anicet, and died May 09, 1922 in Terrebonne, Minnesota. He married (1) ELIZABETH CHRETIEN on April 26, 1869 in St. Anicet, daughter of JOSEPH ALEXIS CHRETIEN and ELLEN (NALLY HELEN KERBY) KIRBY. He married (2) Annie LeMay Delorme on 1891 in Terrebonne, Minnesota, daughter of Francois Delorme and Anne Trudell.
Stephen's story reported in the "History of Red Lake County", published in 1976, co-authored by Anne Healy, Red Lake Falls, Minnesota.
Stephen was born and married to his first wife, Elizabeth, in Quebec, where he was a Captain of a ship on the St. Lawrence River, until 1882, when he took up a homestead in Terrebonne Township (then Polk County). Here he built a log cabin, where the family lived until they built a frame house in 1900. When Elizabeth died, he married the widow of Damien Quesnel, who had 6 children from him. They had the same last name because Damien was the half nephew of Stephen. Annie was the widow of Stephen's half nephew, Damien Quesnel.Children (Etienne Stephen & Elizabther):
