Joseph Léveillée - Obituary

  "Joseph Léveillée, 90, 11 Broad Street, Harris, died this morning at his home after a lingering illness.

He was the husband of the late Césarie (Théroux) Léveillée and was born Sept 7, 1867, in St-Aimé, P.Q., Canada, son of the late Antoine and Sophie (Lambert) Léveillée. He was a retired yardman and had worked for 40 years until the closing of Interlaken Mills at Harris. he had beena resident of the Pawtuxet Valley for 50 years and was a member of the Union of Prayer, Notre Dame Church, Phenix.

Surviving are five sons: Joseph, Jean-Baptiste and Homérild Léveillée, with whom he lived, all of Coventry, Aimé of West Warwick and Arthur Léveillée of Providence; three daughters, Mrs. Oliver Pelland of Providence, Mrs. Evanhoe Levesque of Coventry and Mrs. Theode Théroux of West Warwick; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8 from the Potvin & Son Funeral Home, 167 Washington Street, West Warwick with a solemn requiem Mass in Notre Dame Church, Phenix at 9 o'clock. Burial with be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Phenix." (P.V. Daily Times)

"FINAL RITES FOR MRS. LEVEILLEE HELD AT PHENIX
Large Attendance at Church; Rev. Richard Celebrant

A large attendance of relatives and friends were [resemt at funeral services this morning for Mrs. Césarie Léveillée, wife of Joseph Léveillée, which were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfred Charbonneau, 11 Broad Street, harris, followed by a solemn high Mass of requiem in Notre Dame Church, Phenix, at 9 o'clock.

Rev. J. Evangeliste Brunelle, pastor, escorted the body to the Altar and was seated in the Sanctuary. Rev. J. Alfred Richard, W.F. was celebrant of the Mass, with Rev. Joseph Bousquet of Christ the King Church, Centreville, as deacon, and Rev. Leonard Charron of Notre Dame Church as sub-deacon. Rev. Albert Léveillée of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Providence, was also seated in the Sanctuary.

A quartet, comprising Romeo Maynard, Joseph Charbonneau, Romea Blanchette and Emirald Hebert, sang the High Mass of Requiem under the direction of Mrs. Christine Vadeboncoeur, organist. At the offertory, Mr. Blanchette sand "Pie Jesu", and at the conclusion Mrs. Vadeboncoeur and Mr. Chamberland sang "The Crucifix". Burial was in Notre Dame cemetery. Rev. Charron and Rev. Bousquet read the committal services and offered final prayer at the grave.

An honorary delegation, representing the Sodality of Ste. Anne, included Mrs. Adolph Lague, Mrs. Joseph LaBranche, Mrs. Pierre Léveillée and Mrs. Olivier Lavallée.

Active bearers were Adolph Lague, Joseph LaBranche, Fred Joyal, Arsene Plante, Ernest Dessrosier and Alphone Laframboise.
