The two articles in the May issue about Bishop Briand produced "reactions" from our Readers and our Authors. Pierre Montour, Henri Gosselin, Jerry Collins, Lise and Fr. Owen Taggart have given information for further thought and discussion. Please read the first two articles below, in this June issue. Perhaps other readers would have a reaction also.
Suzanne Boivin Sommerville writes "that my paternal ancestor Pierre Boivin experienced a masssive earthquake in 1663. Here is how his contemporaries described the event, along with a few more observations about natural phenomena and Pierre Boivin's connection with Sainte-Anne-de Beaupré."
Jim Carten in his article refers to the different spellings of names that we see in the early days of the colony, and even on into the nineteenth century: "The names are written through the fantasy of he who holds the plume".
Jean Quintal writes about "The GIFT ANEW of her DOWRY
by the URSULINE SISTER".
Juliana L'Heureux describes an evening listening to the poetry of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as read by Layne Longfellow, one of Henry's distant cousins. She also sends us the Preface 1925, The Jesuit Martyrs of Canada.
We welcome a guest author, Rita Roy Drouin, who writes about "The Healing Forest" from the point of view of an Algonquin grandmother.
I researched my parish Notre-Dame du Bon Conseil and wrote about its history from 1891 to the present. I have also rewritten my April article on the Notre Dame school, incorporating my recent research.
There is a special edition this month celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the D-Day Landing on the Normandy beaches.

Suzanne Boivin Sommervile nous écrit que son ancêtre paternel Pierre Boivin a senti un tremblement de terre en 1663. Voici comment on a décrit cet évènement en ce temps-là.
Jim Carten dans son article nous explique les épelations différents depuis le début de la colonie en Nouvelle France: "Les noms sont écrits selon la fantasie de celui qui tient la plume".

Moi, j'ai fait de la recherche de mon ancienne paroisse "Notre-Dame du Bon Conseil". J'écris de son histoire de 1891 au présent. J'ai aussi écrit de nouveau mon article d'avril "L'École Notre-Dame du Bon Conseil".
Il y a une parution spéciale ce mois pour célébrer le 60e anniversaire du Débarquement D-DAY sur les plages de la Normandie le 6 juin 1944.
